Uterine Artery Embolization

A nonsurgical alternative to hysterectomy for uterine fibroids — performed through a pinhole incision, with the uterus preserved.

Uterine artery embolization (also called uterine fibroid embolization, or UFE) treats symptomatic uterine fibroids by blocking the small arteries that feed them, causing the fibroids to shrink. For women with heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, or pressure symptoms from fibroids, it offers meaningful relief without major surgery — the uterus stays intact, recovery is measured in days rather than weeks, and most patients go home the same day or after one night.

Our interventional radiologists perform the procedure through a tiny incision using image guidance, and work closely with referring gynecologists to identify women who are good candidates.
