What is a Radiologist?

Radiology is a specialty of medicine that utilizes imaging technologies like X-Rays, CT scans and MRI scans to diagnose and treat disease - radiologists then interpret these images. Premier Radiology is composed of Radiologists and Interventional Radiologists.

Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in using and interpreting images of areas inside the body to diagnose and treat diseases. The images are produced with x-rays, sound waves, magnetic energy or other types of energy. Radiologists have four to six years of specialized training after becoming a doctor.

What is an Interventional Radiologist?

According to the Society of Interventional Radiology, an interventional radiologist is a medical doctor who performs minimally invasive, targeted treatments using imaging guidance. Interventional radiologists are board-certified radiologists that are fellowship-trained in interventional treatments using guided imaging. Their specialized training is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
